Family estate with Art Nouveau grandeur
Returning clients are always special to us.
Years ago, we renovated their home in Amsterdam. Since then, the family has grown, and they were ready for a house that better reflects this new chapter in their lives.
This characterful country house, dating from around 1900 and featuring beautiful English and Art Nouveau influences, formed the starting point of the design. Our aim was to preserve the home’s unique atmosphere and original details while creating a warm and comfortable family home.
Throughout the house, shades of green, red, and purple reappear, combined with distinctive marbles, floral motifs, and natural materials. The soft green woodwork on the exterior façade was also brought indoors, creating a stronger connection between the interior and the surrounding landscape.
One of the family’s key wishes was to strengthen the connection with the garden. To achieve this, we designed a large glass facade in the kitchen. It brings in abundant natural light and allows the interior and exterior spaces to flow seamlessly into one another.
One of our favourite spaces is the existing event room, entirely finished in wood. By recreating the wall upholstery, the room regained the character and elegance it deserves—a place for long dinners, birthday celebrations, and memorable evenings with family and friends.
In addition, Stock designed an Arts & Crafts room: a creative space dedicated to drawing, painting, and other forms of artistic expression. A true dream project to design.
Reading also plays an important role in the family's life, which inspired the creation of a library and several cosy corners throughout the house where one can retreat with a good book.
For the children, we created bedrooms filled with clever bespoke solutions and plenty of room for imagination and adventure. At the same time, the house has been fully prepared for the future with technical upgrades including new insulation, double glazing, and underfloor heating.
The result is a warm and welcoming family home designed to be truly lived in—a place for sharing meals, playing, reading, creating, and making lasting memories.
A house that grows with life.
