Maritime vibe on the waterside
What do you get when you have a new home build from scratch, on the waterfront in a magnificent area in the Netherlands?
A living painting! That is exactly what crossed our minds the first time we set foot in this house.
Inspired by the Spanish Sunflower houses on the Costa Brava, the purpose was to enjoy this typical Dutch view to the max.
The glass doors that let the sunlight in abundantly, give a feeling that one is genuinely sitting on the water, with nature so close by; a very special sensation!
Unfortunately in the Netherlands, summer becomes fall and fall becomes winter. The white, minimalistic character of the house works great when there is plenty of sun and warmth, but in the winter the house missed atmosphere and cosiness.
On top of that, the open character of the building was not suitable anymore for the age of the three children. Teenagers need their privacy and so do their parents.
It was a challenge to meet everyones needs while still respecting the architecture of this beautiful home.
