Dutch heritage with a contemporary twist

The neighborhood Kralingen in the city of Rotterdam, where we were aloud to work on this house, has been bombed severely during World War II, as well as the inner-city, where hardly any building survived. Luckily enough this beautiful lawn was untouched.

The building is located a stones throw away from the place where so much devastation took place. The house is in Kralingen – Oost, a leafy, child friendly neighborhood near the center. It was built in 1913, such a miracle that it has been spared.

Unique character

In the municipality of Rotterdam, Kralingen has a very special reputation. A much loved residential area, the modernization on a large scale of the city of Rotterdam, which took place after the war, is hardly visible here, it has always maintained her own history and unique character.

Ambiance and character

The wishes of our client were clear: the house was in need for a more exciting appearance: bespoke furniture on several places and colorful wallpaper throughout the rooms. But most of all: the classic ornaments that make the house so special had to be maintained. The tension between the old and the new gives this home its own ambiance and character.

The tension between the old and the new gives this home its own ambiance and character.
